It was a cool deal. Well, my car story will touch this car purely as I got another one. BMW - is my favorite car for all times and

when in 1996 one man was in a hurry as he was moving to the other location I ceased my chance

and managed some $1000 though the car cost $3500 at least but he was hurrying. My 520 with

gasoline L6 engine gave a lot of power and allowed me to feel myself nearly a racer on highways. I so deeply feel on love with this car that my wife was angry I didn’t pay her attention at all that time.

Soon I renewed all necessary in my new car though it was not really new. I restored its chassis,

suspension. I also a year after equipped my car with new pistons-rings parts. My BMW reacted

immidiately and made an awful roaring after I left car work shops! Sweet moments in my life!

I can remember every day of my using this car as owning it is a great pleasure. I heard there are

many drivers who don’t like BMW naming it too demanding, or expensive - I bet this is absolutely wrong allegations! And this doesn’t need any proving - it’s clear as natural!

In addition BMW’s maintenance parts are not so expensive at all compared to Mercedes or Honda. Now my car is old enough and this urges thought s of new one but if I soon buy a new one this will be new BMW, maybe 7-serie, now I’m in the position to afford it.

I am a fan for BMW world and I want show off my beautiful 5series E34 model of 1991, I purchased recently at the used cars market. This is super car of executive class, with rare Gletscherblau Metallic body color and blue interior. I don’t like black cars with tinted windows at all :>$ my car hasn’t many bells and whistles, only electric powered sunroof. But it was the thing I was looking for exactly. Now I am going to do everything with my own hands. I replaced its sound system yet. It now equipped with Kenwood amplifiers, Rockford Fosgate subwoofers, Monster Cable wiring …etc.

I don’t tell you about its perfect handling, everyone knows about BMWs super driveability and if somebody will tell you that they bad don’t trust this person he if don’t tried BMW or tried one with overheated engine. You can ask me a question why I took 520 but not more powerful 525, the answer is simple, first though according the manual engines has almost the same fuel consumption actually 525 needs more, I have friends who have both of them. Next cause is that 525 modifications usually were used by people with pretensions for car racer and they have usually worn out power train, but my baby more likely were used by woman at no matter her solid age she is still pretty and have excellent characteristics. For me 150hp which produced form it is more than enough, it totally satisfies me… and compare with my 3 series this car have better deadening, more inner space, smoothness for driving.

Its inline V6 engine very stable it willing at low revs and explodes at higher 3000. The behavior of this car combined the family sedan comfort with sportive class dynamics.

In winter I used new tires Glisaded Nord Frost. They provide my car with drivability of front drive car at icy and snowy roads, I feel myself very confident. Last swapping were radiator the old one became leading I install Nissens, at one I changed temperature detector for Wahler. Next suspension, I swapped all gaskets, brake disks and shoes for rear Febi, frontal dampers Boge. This all didn’t cost me much money because I work as mechanic at repair shop and all I did by my self and moreover all repair parts I took with great discounts up to 30%. I think this is the end for my car story. I can add that my car now is cool thing and rather fast car in addition. Next scheduler maintenance I will do in two months, the engine packing should be replaced and steering system diagnostic. Thank for every dude who read this car story.

My advice for future BMW owners is if you are not respect this brand it is better don’t buy it at all, if you feel not passion looking at the blue propeller at the hood this car not for you. And in addition it is not so cheap car. Quality needs to be paid. This is law. Goodbye.

First I want to say that cars are my passion since childhood so I take interest in every detail concerning cars. That’s great. I used to favor various car marques but for 10 year already my ideal is BMW. Of course if we are not touching such extra makes as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Aston Martin and Porsche and others. These are unachievable for now for me substances.

This BMW is not my first car, I owned VW Passant, Mazda 626 and even Toyota Camry. Each my car was used and after some time bored me. Still owning those cars I was a fan of BMW but I principally desired to attain a new one or 1-2 years used in order to enjoy the car long. I also planned to make serious tuning to my car anyway and to enable this of course new car is required. So now I got my wonderful car - BMW 520.

I bet that the one who at least once drove a BMW would never change it for some other car.

Well my car has the following outstanding things that make the sense of it and urge me to adore it. Of course first it is L6 2.2 engine producing 167 h/p. First I was wondering why this rate is rather low given BMW easily passes the cars with better h/p rate and finally I learnt that this is a bit an illusion or just h/p of BMW are more real and indeed contain more power. So it is, beleive me guys.

Due to it, rear wheels driveline, 6-gears manual transmission my amazing 520 reaches 100 km/h within 9 sec in basic version.

Suspension is independent, brakes are disc vented - well, everything necessary for modern cool and fast car!

But I have to add some important info about my car. When buying my BMW I order to dismantle such features as TCS, ABS and other systems to get the "pure BMW", soon I’ll add a supercharger to current multi-point injection fuel delivery and my BMW will be the ever BMW on earth!

It was my car story, hope to see ideas and comments on car story and my car.:)

My wife had BMW 118. Now let me say it briefly – I drive my current car BMW 3 320d for 3 months already, covered 4500 km. So I changed gas engine for diesel, manual transmission for hydro. Impressions: when I was running my car in I didn’t press accelerator properly, the car was riding plainly, getting revs sharply though, the maneuverability was superb. Still it was unusual for me to hear diesel growling and a bit more vibration at low revs than of gas BMW. After I finished the run in of my new 320d I was really adored. It was jumping into rush right from the lowest revs doing its best. In fact, diesel BMW was not a point worse than gas engine – only better. Comparing my previous E39 523 I gained in dynamics, turns stability and fuel expenditure at 9.3 liter per 100 km with fuel acceleration and climate control plus headlights on. The disadvantages – a bit less spacious inner compartment, there is no seat lower part adjustment feature. By the way, pleasant thing was that after 2000 km vibrations diminished.

Finally I got a terrific dynamics, superb controllability. Anyway my 320d gets 5 points of 5! Good luck.

It is BMW 325 cabrio - small but very fast and cool pretty thing! And after all I don’t really like those spacious long and wide cars - they need too much fuel and space but run rather slowly!

I was happy to obtain 325 Cabrio Ci as BMW, i mean good BMW model with powerful engine was always my dream. Somesay that cabrio is not so reasonable as car with top is much more practical - it has no problems with rain and snowing. But I live in Italy and our climate allows me to enjoy my car in full!

But frankly speaking in winter my BMW has to wait for warm weather sometimes. It is a gasoline you know model with 2.5 L6 engine which I learn very well for these 5 years I own it. First I used to visit repair shops for every trivia but gradually I became well aware of my 325 parts after I spent a lot of time in my garage lying under it!

I like to travel so in this relation Cario is the best variant as it gives the best opportnity to feel speed you drive and to breathe fresh air of sea running at 200km/h speed! That’s the pleasure, that’s cool indeed! This what I live my car. I think it all I wanted to say here about my car, bye

The paint was done six weeks ago. The Alfa was failing, so we took the BMW out of the body shop, missing some trim and some details, because we needed a drivable car. Now it’s almost finished.

I went out to take these pictures and noticed that the driver side rocker panel molding was hanging from the t-bolts at both ends.

I spent an 2 hours trying to get 35-year-old molding over new clips. I couldn’t do it. Now I am drinking big martinis.

If anyone has any ideas on how to put on the rocker panel molding, please leave your suggestion in a comment. I tried hammering it, using a heat gun to soften the rubber and swearing a lot.

We are probably in for US$ 9,000 for parts, body work and paint + US$ 3,500 insurance coverage. Plus my labor, swearing and drinking. I hate working on cars.

I purchased my BMW R69S from a local rider in December of 1997. The bike was in rideable shape and I rode it around the San Francisco Bay Area most every weekend until October of 1998. The few changes made during that time included the replacement of the rusting after market exhaust system with a stock (chrome) system, replacement of some bulbs, and replacement of a broken speedometer cable. I also hammered out the dents in the oil pan and cleaned up the wiring in the headlight bucket.

However:

When I first rode the bike it had low bars and a Harley style solo saddle. The owner gave me the option of high bars and the wide bench seat. I took that option when I purchased the bike, not knowing at the time that I’d eventually wind up with low bars and a Denfeld solo seat.

I wanted to remove the 2 ” x 3 ” tabs the previous owner welded onto the frame to support the springs on his Harley style solo saddle.

Oil dripped from somewhere on the right cylinder. It was very minor—a few drops after a ride—but quite annoying.

The bike was painted El Dorado grey. I wanted white with black pin-stripes.

The bushings/silent blocks were all worn and needed to be replaced.

Some of the odometer digits were impossible to read and the trip odometer could not be reset.

I thought the bike had about 40,000 miles on it but actual mileage was (and still is) unknown. The top end was known to have had an “unleaded conversion” done about 5,000 miles prior to my purchase of the bike. The bottom end had never, to the best of my knowledge, been opened.

With all of that in mind I decided to do something I’d never done before—restore an old bike. That idea was a bit shocking as I was not what one would call mechanically inclined; a mechanical moron would be a better description of my abilities at that time. All my vehicles had any work more involved than changing fluids or bulbs done by the dealer. A lot has changed.

BMW goes to great lengths to over engineer its vehicles with techno gadgets most drivers will never understand or use. A perfect example is the iDrive system, which is optional in the 128i. If you opt for the navigation system, you get iDrive. Buy a Garmin or other aftermarket GPS system if you don’t know where you’re going and avoid the headache of trying to figure out how to use the iDrive programs.
Available as a coupe or convertible, the 128i is comfortable, quiet and like all BMWs, a lot of fun on the open road.
If you want, you can step up to the 335i, which comes with a twin-turbo, in-line six cylinder with 300 horsepower. But for most drivers, the 230-horsepower, straight six in the 128i should be more than enough. Fuel mileage for both powerplants is in the 18-28 range.
Both models are built on the same platform and are direct ancestors of the classic BMW 2002 coupe.
We had the fun of driving the convertible with the auto/manual transmission and a host of goodies such as cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, tilt-telescoping steering wheel and upgraded climate control. The seats are covered with a special leather that reflects sunlight that BMW says reduces seat temperatures up to 20 degrees. Even the power, folding top is unique with shiny, metallic fibers that emit a silvery appearance in the sun or under a full moon.
Other standard features include antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, and front seat side airbags that extend higher in the convertible model for added protection. The convertible also has pop-up hoops behind the rear seats in the unlikely event of a roll over.
The interior is well designed with high quality fit and finish. There are two cupholders, one on the passenger side of the center console and the other in the console, but between the front seats.
The back seat is useable for two adults but not for long trips.
Even with the top folded, there’s a surprising amount of room in the trunk but you have to fit items in carefully to fit under the roof storage area.
It’s always a treat to test a BMW. We had occasion to run up to Lookout Mountain near Cloudland State Park during our test drive time. The winding roads going up the mountain were a pure joy in the BMW. The little car had plenty of power and hugged the corners as if on rails.
While we weren’t provided a window sticker with our test model, a visit to the BMW website gave us an approximate cost of $42,000 for the model we tested. Nix the navigation (and iDrive) package and you can have a Beemer for less than $40,000. Not bad.

Both are wonderful cars in their own right and BMW is very proud of them.

The M5 is a 500-horsepower beast that is supposed to put you back into your seat when you step on the gas. The 650i is a true luxury cruiser with questionable styling.
Both come with their own set of built-in quirks, mainly the damnable iDrive system … a mouse-controlled system mounted on the center console. You’re supposed to be able to adjust the navigation, audio, entertainment and climate controls with the silver mouse. But trying to do that while moving is taking your life in your hands, even if you can figure out how to make the desired adjustments.
Both also come with a tire pressure monitoring system, which is a great idea. However, both cars made a trip to Global Imports in Marietta when the warning light came on. With the M5, it was just a low pressure setting, possibly because of the cold weather overnight. The 650i spent a day in the shop having the run flat tire replaced because of a nail at a cost of $546 to BMW.
Both BMWs are wonderful machines but overly complicated in their operation and styling.
The M5 boasts a mighty 5.0-liter V10 engine that can be mated to a seven-speed auto/manual or true manual. Go for the true manual because the auto/manual is terrible. Whenever you shift, the car accelerates, then pauses as it shifts. Your head goes back and forth with every shift. You can adjust the pause, but never fully eliminate it.
The M5 comes with BMWs MDrive system that allows the driver to adjust the car in any number of 279 configurations. We got through about seven.
The 650i is a much easier driving car with a 4.8-liter V8 with 360 horsepower and a seven-speed auto/manual transmission that doesn’t come with the built-in lurches. The paddle shifters on the steering wheel change gears seamlessly.
Where the 650i suffers, according to some, is with the exterior styling. Available only either as a two-door coupe or convertible, the 650i is sleek and lean but the huge rear end just ruins the effect. In contrast, the Jaguar XK flows from stem to stern.
Both cars are immaculately put together with elegant interiors. The 650i doesn’t have a touch of wood, real or otherwise. Instead, touches of brushed chrome nicely compliment the two-tone interior.
The 650i is a four-seater, but the rear seating area is very tight and difficult to get into or out of. The M5, as a four-door, offers more room and easier access.
For some, either BMW would be a dream machine. But for $90,000, we’d prefer something a little less complicated.

This has been the greatest resource I have ever seen for what could be a very complicated and expensive vehicle. Thanks to all, and I thought instead of just taking advantage of reading the threads, I should show some respect and introduce myself, my better half, and her car

I met the woman of my dreams, three years ago this December. We decided about 8 months ago it was time for another car for her. I talked her into driving a 2001 530i. We took it home the next morning. Things were good. Then they were not.

While at the stables where she keeps her horse, some guy was loading a horse too close to the parking area, and long story short, when she walked out of the barn after everyone was gone, she saw dirt and mud all over the side of her car. After trying to get some answers as to who or whom damaged her car and getting nowhere, she did the right thing. She took it home and washed it. Then she found it. A nice dent on the drivers rear door as well as some scratches. I have buffed the scratches, and the dent will get fixed when we have more money.

Then the passenger rear tail light got broken. I love my future wife, and I love my life. Because of those two reasons, I will not be discussing how it got broken. Lets just say that I should never have parked my truck behind her car. It was my fault. (Honey, can you zip up your purse, my nuts are getting a bit of a chill)

Anyway. Had the possesed blower fan that was also draining the battery, replaced the FSU last night, everything is groovy.

I need some good aftermarket tails now. I bought a set from the dreaded e-bay, and of course the plug is wrong because it is an ‘01, so they were returned. I have been reading extensively about tail lamps, and it seems that everyone wants what I have because they get upgrade kits, I just want a reasonably priced (ie: Not 450.00 dollars) smoked/clear set that plugs in. Oh well, the search continues.

Thanks for reading my long winded intro, and thanks again for having a site like this.

2001 530i, automatic, deep tinted windows (hard to see out of when backing up!) everything else stock……….for now.

Gary and Sandi
